Lenny van Eijk

Lenny van Eijk is a Dutch-born textile artist based in northern New Jersey, near New York City. She creates large-scale improvisational abstract works composed of layered fabric and stitch, constructed like quilts yet presented as paintings.

Working intuitively, she cuts, layers, and stitches fabric into evolving forms, allowing the dialogue between color and structure to unfold in the studio. A strong feminist perspective, shaped by personal experiences navigating an unequal world for women, informs her commitment to elevating textile traditions within contemporary art.

After a corporate career spanning five countries, she turned to textiles as a form of creative expression and has worked as a full-time studio artist since 2019. She has studied quilt making, color theory and design, and continues her studies with renowned fiber artist Nancy Crow.

Her work has been exhibited in galleries and museums across the United States and in Europe, and featured in several publications.
