Kit Vincent
Kit Vincent creates abstract textile compositions in which fabric functions as both material and metaphor. Working primarily with hand-dyed cottons and silks, she layers raw-edge appliqué and surface design to build painterly compositions in cloth.
Her practice first took shape in response to a moment of collective rupture, leading her to develop the improvisational raw-edge language that continues to define her work. Since then, she has explored themes of upheaval, resilience, and renewal, drawing on natural cycles and subtle disruptions as catalysts for form and composition.
Vincent’s work has been exhibited widely across Canada, the United States, and Europe. She is a published and award-winning artist, with distinctions including Best of Show at Quilt National ’21 and Schweinfurth Art Center Quilts=Art=Quilts ’14. She is based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and maintains an active teaching practice within the fibre art community.
