Dale Tomlinson
Raised amid the lakes, granite formations, and forests of the Canadian Shield, Dale Tomlinson carries a lifelong sensitivity to structure and form. Her quilts invite quiet reflection, drawing the viewer into subtle interplays of color, line, and shape. Inspired by her mother’s love of textiles, Tomlinson works intuitively, cutting fabric freehand and allowing each choice to lead to the next, balancing instinct with careful study. Often, a single idea unfolds across a series, revealing variation, rhythm, and gentle tension. Her art often reflects the geometry and unexpected angles of old rural buildings shaped by time. Tomlinson approaches quilt-making as both a tactile, improvisational practice and a personal exploration of memory and history. Based in Toronto, Ontario, she has exhibited internationally in curated and juried shows.
