Pamela Loewen

Pamela Loewen grew up in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and has been making quilts since 1989. After finishing her formal education at Cairn University (B.S.) and Wheaton College (M.A.), she took her first quilting class. Initially, Loewen worked with commercial fabrics and created traditional quilts, many for family and friends. It did not take long before Loewen discovered serious artists working in the medium of quilt making. After her first class in 2002, with Nancy Crow, a pioneer and lauded master of the medium, Loewen began the pursuit of quilt making as an art form. To have more control over the hue, value, and color intensity of her textiles,

Loewen took up dyeing her own fabrics. This required her to learn a whole new skill set which greatly expanded the range of colors she could use in her work.
